Hyderabad, September 16:
Members of Telangana Jagruthi staged a protest outside the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) office in Nampally on Tuesday, demanding justice for Group 1 job aspirants.

The protestors shouted slogans like “Revanth down down” and tried to enter the TGPSC office. A video shared online showed activists attempting to break past the gates. Police were heavily deployed at the scene to prevent any violence.

The protest follows a major ruling by the Telangana High Court. On September 9, the court ordered a manual re-evaluation of the Group 1 exams. The court also told the TGPSC to declare results within two months. If not, the entire exam process will be cancelled and fresh exams must be held.

This issue began in early 2024 when the newly elected Revanth Reddy-led Congress government cancelled the earlier Group 1 notification. Some students challenged this in the Supreme Court, but the court allowed the exams to go ahead, affecting around 30,000 candidates.

TGPSC had originally announced 563 Group 1 vacancies, but recruitment was paused in April. Petitioners later approached the Supreme Court again, raising concerns about exam irregularities, unfair evaluation, and non-Telugu evaluators checking Telugu papers. The court rejected these claims, saying they seemed to be made with bad intentions.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) supported the High Court’s decision. He said it brought long-overdue justice to unemployed youth and criticized the Congress government for ignoring complaints and mistreating protestors.

KTR also said the TGPSC didn’t act even after students submitted proof of cheating and irregularities. “Instead of listening, the government filed cases against job seekers and used force,” he said. He praised the court for standing with the students and called the verdict a big win for those fighting for fair exams.
