Two more bodies of suspected Maoists including one of a woman was found on the banks of the Indravani River by the security forces on Wednesday morning.

Another body suspected to be of a woman Maoist was found in the forest of Kaswarpur in Gadchiroli on Wednesday taking the casualties to 41. A total of 32 suspected Maoists were gunned down in an “exchange of fire” with the security forces in the Gadchiroli district of neighbouring Maharashtra on Sunday. As the search operations are going on, the police are recovering bodies of the rebels who had reportedly fled after getting injured in the gun battle. Another six rebels were killed in another gun battle in the district on Tuesday.

Senior police officials of the Maharashtra police said that two groups of Maoists about 40 had gathered in the forest area to discuss their plan of action and increase the revenue.

The Maoists, according to the police, target the ‘Tendu’ leave contractor in the tribal-dominated district and collect money from them to finance and support their activities.
