HYDERABAD : State government’s prestigious Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) seems to be posing a problem to Andhra Pradesh MLA and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, popularly known as Balayya.

The actor’s house located at Jubilee Hills Check Post is one among other properties added in the land acquisition list which is located on Road No 45, by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), in order to widen the road up to 120 feet as part of the project. Balakrishna and his family have been residing in the house for nearly two decades.

GHMC officials said that they had prepared a Road Development Plan (RDP) to acquire portion of Balakrishna’s land in Jubilee Hills, as part of the road widening works. The officials informed that affected portion will be acquired through private negotiations.

If negotiation fails, corporation will go for land acquisition as per feasibility as required under section 146, 147 of GHMC Act 1956, they added.

In fact, the state government decided to construct multilevel flyovers, grade separators around KBR park to meet the increased traffic needs. Some people approached the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Chennai, against it. The case is pending in Green Tribunal on completion of which the works will be taken up on a faster pace.
