IGNOU to set up 31 Learner Support Centres

1,724 candidates qualify for degree, diploma programmes


The goal of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) must be social and human development, said K. Seetharama Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University.


Addressing the regional convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on Thursday, he said that teaching and learning model must be based on sustainability.


S. Fiayaz Ahmed, Regional Director, IGNOU said that 1,724 candidates qualified for degree and diploma programmes this year.


He said that the IGNOU plans to establish a Learner Support Centre in all the 31 districts of Telangana by next year.


K. Sravan Kumar, a learner of PG Diploma in Rural Development and Sai Rajesh of the PG Diploma in Maternal and Child Health programme said the IGNOU had provided a fantastic learning experience. “I have learnt here in the IGNOU more than what my degree taught me,” said Kanni Devi, a post graduate.
