Update on Nagoba Jatara

Members of Mesram clan performed traditional rituals at Keslapur in Indervelli mandal on Tuesday, marking the conclusion of the annual Nagoba jatara.
The members of the clan, one of the seven from Raj Gonds, who were on a pilgrimage to Budum Dev temple at Shyampur village in Utnoor since Friday, returned to Keslapur on Monday evening. They cleaned the ancient temple with Godavari water from Hasthanamadugu in Jannaram mandal of Mancherial district and performed customary rituals observed on the final day of the jatara.
Meanwhile, tribals belonging to various parts of Telangana and neighbouring Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha thronged the shrine of the serpentine god. They spent the day along with their families and indulged in shopping groceries, play items and consumables, besides taking to rides and other amusement activities.
The Mesrams started the fair, considered to be the largest congregation of tribals after Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, on February 4. A darbar was held by authorities on February 7. The Raj Gonds left for Budum Dev shrine on Friday on a bullock cart caravan.
