Lakshmidevipalli police arrested a tricksters

The Lakshmidevipalli police on Wednesday arrested six members of a tricksters’ gang that allegedly attempted to sell a copper pot projecting it as a ‘precious vessel’ containing ‘magical powers’ to gullible persons.


Acting on a tip-off, a police team nabbed the six members of the gang while trying to sell the copper pot to a person from Andhra Pradesh at Lakshmidevipalli near Kothagudem on Wednesday afternoon. The police seized the copper pot and ? 1.95 lakh from the accused.


Two kingpins of the gang hailing from Kothagudem allegedly added a metal object to the copper pot as an external layer to create electromagnetic field and tried to make unsuspecting people believe that it attracts rice grains owing to ‘magical powers.’


The tricksters projected it as a means to attain wealth and prosperity in a bid to cheat innocent people and make a quick buck, sources added.


Kothagudem DSP S M Ali hailed the swift action of Lakshmidevipalli police that busted the gang.
