Hyderabad: In a novel initiative, the Maulana Azad National Urdu University has decided to show the final exam answer scripts to student before the results are declared.

The move, which is a deviation from regular practice, is being carried out after it was found out in several workshops that exams must not be made the end point but also a need to enrich the student’s learning experience.

To put this theory into practice, MANUU, which had held its semester examinations in May 2019, had the students check their answer scripts and discuss with their teachers on the points where they can improve in the next semester.

The results were declared only after the session.  Meanwhile, the feedback from the students showed that the method in which they approached the subject for the learning process needs improvement.

Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice Chancellor in MANUU said, “The system has been introduced to bring transparency in the examination and evaluation system. The idea is to improve the learning experience of the students.”

The corridors of Universities often have the students gossip that their professors have been biased and purposely failed them but showing these scripts also helps them understand that they are evaluated on the basis of what they write and not on their conduct in the classroom, explained a senior faculty.

The new method is  being taken up  to ensure student friendly assessment where there is scope for improvement and better performance.
